In 1949, Japanese former mechanic-turned-engineer and industrialist Soichiro Honda introduced a motorcycle he had designed and engineered, the Dream D-type. His surname was the brand, one founded as the Honda Technical Research Institute just years before, in 1946. Soon after, Honda would tap Japanese businessman Takeo Fujisawa for his marketing expertise, and automotive history would be born. Honda motorcycles would speed through Grand Prix victories and World Championships to help the marque make its mark.

By 1959, the first Honda subsidiary in the US would be established, in Los Angeles, California, and in 1969, the N600 sedan would appear, the first Honda car sold in America. From there, Honda would go on to become one of the world's largest auto manufacturers, producing some of the most sought-after vehicles today. It wouldn't be without milestones, either.

Today, Honda manufactures everything from cars and trucks to SUVs and minivans. Its offerings range from CR-V and Pilot crossovers and Civic and Accord sedans to Ridgeline pickups and Odyssey vans. The brand even makes hydrogen fuel-cell vehicles (FCEVs) and electrified vehicles (hybrids), like Clarity and Insight, respectively. Put simply, they're a brand approaching a century in the making, and still beloved of drivers the world over.
